Frank D. Hawkins

Mr. Frank D Hawkins, of NC 801 North, Mocksville, died surrounded by his family on Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2015, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem after a long struggle with Lou Gehrig’s disease.

He was born in Greensboro to the late Ola June and Drewery Hawkins. He grew up in the Methodist Children’s Home in Winston-Salem, graduated from R.J. Reynolds High School and was employed 35 years at Western Electric/Lucent Technologies. He loved living on his farm in Davie County where he rode his horses and raised beef cattle.

Survivors: his wife, Hutokah “Toby” Hawkins of the home; a son, Drew Hawkins (Linda); a grandson, Curtis Hawkins (Mollie); and 3 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was conducted at 2 p.m., Friday, Dec. 11 at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Arnold Gosnell officiating.Burial followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
