Benton Lail Marklin received his Eagle Rank in Scouting on Oct. 4 in a ceremony in the sanctuary at First Baptist Church in Mocksville.
Refreshments followed in the CORE center.
Sen. Andrew Brock, for whom he had served as a Senate Page last year, spoke at the ceremony along with many friends and family who have assisted along his journey to Eagle.
Marklin’s Eagle project benefited South Davie Middle School. He, along with several Scouts and friends, constructed erosion control structures at the track on the edge of the football field. Bill and Will Marrs provided expertise and assistance during the project.
“Thank you to all of my leaders, teachers, and friends who have supported me throughout this journey,”he said.
He will join his brother, Johnson, as the newest Eagle in the Marklin family.
