The wheels of government sometimes move slowly – but in the Town of Mocksville – they’re moving in the right direction for residents of the Mumford Drive area. They went to the town board with their concerns about the abandoned Monleigh manufacturing plant. It had caught fire. It was a mess – a dangerous mess. The town had the building condemned, and following legal protocol, this week had the structure torn down at an estimated cost of $105,000. A lien will be placed on the property to recoup the costs. Listed owners, C. Wayne McDonald Contractors of High Point, is going through a bankruptcy.
