Julia Mae Becknell Carson Dalton

Julia Mae Becknell Carson Dalton, 96, died on Thursday, Sept. 24, 2015 after a long period of declining health.
She was born on Dec. 16, 1918, in Wilkesboro to the late Walter and Rosa Bell Becknell. She was an accomplished quilter, loved to read novels, complete crossword puzzles, read the Bible, and keep up with world events. She also volunteered with her church, the local Democratic Women’s Society, Yadkin Senior Center, Yadkin Christian Ministries, and other charitable organizations in Yadkinville. She was an active member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and loved the Lord.
Mrs. Dalton was preceded in death by 2 husbands, Robert Victor Carson and Luther Dalton; 2 daughters, Marva Carson Speaks and Shirley Carson Clark; 7 sisters; and 2 brothers.
Survivors: 3 children, Robert Carson Jr. (wife Lois) of Yadkinville, Judith Roane (husband Donald) of Annapolis, Md., and Ronald Carson (wife Doris) of Antioch, Calif.; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral service was held Monday, Sept. 28 at 1 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Yadkinville. The Rev. Romy Horton officiated and the Rev. Johnny Scott delivered the eulogy. Burial followed in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Hamptonville.
