Mr. Donald Salvatore Maurice Sr., 76, of Statesville, died Friday, May 15, 2015, at Iredell Memorial Hospital.

He was born May 26, 1938, in Bergen County, N.J. to the late Emile “Millie” and Teresa Hopkins Maurice. After retiring from Davie County Schools, he enjoyed working at flea markets. Mr. Maurice was proud of his family and enjoyed spending time with them.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Maurice.

Survivors: his wife, Beverly Appel Maurice of the home; 6 children, Donald Maurice Jr. (Carolee) of Hawley, Pa., Lauren “Missy” Bruntfield (Charles) of Stony Point, N.Y., Stephanie Zapata of Cornwall on Hudson, N.Y., Ron Maurice (Jolene Barker) of Mooresville, Nicole “Nikki” Maurice of Mocksville and Gina Maurice of Greenville; 5 siblings, Rosemary Lang, Gerald Maurice, Mario Maurice, Michael Maurice and Teresa Maurice; 8 grandchildren, Chicky, James, Samantha, Matthew, Nicholas, Christopher, Jeffrey and Darrin; and s great-granddaughter, Savanna.

A funeral service was conducted at 2 p.m., Monday, May 18 at Eaton Funeral Chapel in Mocksville. Burial followed in Rowan Memorial Park in Salisbury. The family received friends Sunday, May 17, at the funeral home.
