William Boyce Jones

William Boyce “Bud” Jones, 90, of Cornatzer Road, Mocksville, died on Friday, Aug. 29, 2014, at Autumn Care of Mocksville. 

A native of Davie County, he was born Nov. 17, 1923, to the late William C. and Ida West Jones. During his working years, he was a farmer, a factory worker at United Furniture and a security guard at Ingersoll Rand. When his health permitted, he attended Cornatzer Baptist Church. 

He was also preceded in death by 3 wives, Peggy Bailey Chandler, Oniva Spillman Jones, and Ava Barney Jones; a brother, James Herman Jones; and 2 sisters, Mary K. Smith and Ruby Jones Merritt. 

Survivors: 2 sons, John Boyce Jones and wife Idell of Lexington, and Kirby Ray Jones of Salisbury; 2 daughters, Ann Jones Turner and husband Steven Turner of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Donna Jones Spry and husband Lewis Ray Spry of Mocksville; 6 grandchildren: Kirby Ray Jones Jr. and wife Monica, and Jessica Kelly and husband Aaron, all of Kentucky; Wendy Steed and husband, David of Lexington; David Shane Tysinger and wife Kelly of Greensboro, and Chavis Spry and Justin Spry of Mocksville; plus 8 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life service was held at noon Tuesday, Sept, 2 at Cornatzer Baptist Church with the Revs. Edward Kuhar and Clyde Akers officiating. Burial followed in the Cornatzer Baptist Church Cemetery. The family received friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
