Swimming sweep for S. Rowan

South Rowan’s boys and girls swim teams swept Salisbury this week at the J. Fred Corriher Jr. YMCA.
Winners for South’s girls included Taylor Kluttz (200 free), Casey Pruitt (100 back), Faith Casswell (50 free), and Leslie Franks (200 IM, 100 free).
Franks took the IM in school record time. The Raider women also swept the relays. Casswell, Franks, Pruitt and Kluttz won the 200 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay.
Samantha Kennerly, Sabrina Broadway, Madilyn Jones and Brittany Sprinkles won the 200 freestyle relay.
McKenzie Stevens (100 fly, 500 free) and Sharmi Amin (100 breast) were winners for Salisbury.
The boys meet was slightly closer, with Stetson Johnston (200 free), Nathan Shorter (200 IM), Andrew Perry (100 back) and Reagan May (50 free) taking first places for the Raiders.
May, Johnston, Steven Lyons and Hunter Altman won the 200 freestyle relay. Taylor Rodenhuis (100 fly, 500 free), Andrew Mason (100 free) and Matt Woolly (100 brst) won events for Salisbury. The Hornets also took the 200 medley relay (Cameron McLendon/Matt Woolly/Taylor Rodenhuis/Andrew Mason) and the 400 free relay (Max Patel/Matt Woolly/Andrew Mason/Taylor Rodenhuis).
The Raiders return to action Friday as they host South Iredell and West Davidson.
Salisbury Academy’s jayvee boys had a 10-0 run and won 26-14 against Concordia. Mitch Jeter scored 12 points for the Jaguars (5-2) and got offensive help from Hank Robins and Charlie Barr.
• Salisbury Academy’s varsity boys (5-3) lost 29-28 to Concordia on a shot with 5 seconds left.
Ben Coulter had 20 points and 10 rebounds. Sam Combs hit two 3-pointers. Malik Holmes had 14 rebounds and seven blocks.
• Salisbury Academy’s jayvees girls lost 30-10 to Concordia. Lila Harry led the Jaguars with six points.
• Salisbury Academy’s varsity teams will compete in a tournament at Forsyth Country Day today and Saturday. The jayvees are home on Dec. 17 against St Mark.

West Rowan defeated North Rowan 54-53 on Thursday.
Leading the way for West (6-2) was Owen White with 19 points, 10 rebounds and four assists, Caleb Mauldin had 21 points, eight rebounds and four steals. Malcolm Ingram scored nine points with five assists.
West’s Logan Sproul and Mykal Berger played strong defensive games.
Xavier Haley scored 16 points and Josh Ellis added 12 points for the Mavericks (4-4).
West’s next game will be against Erwin Monday.

The 25th-ranked Wheeling Jesuit Cardinals swept ninth-ranked Wingate in the NCAA volleyball national quarterfinals Thursday night at the U.S. Cellular Center.
Wheeling Jesuit won by scores of 25-19, 25-19 and 25-17 to improve to 38-5 overall. Wingate ends its season at 32-3.
K.J. Sherrill (West Rowan) had 21 points and 10 rebounds to lead GRU Augusta to an 81-75 overtime win against Shaw on Thursday.
