BR Mayor Outlines Priorities

BERMUDA RUN – Mayor Ken Rethmeier took the opportunity to look ahead on a night when only two board members were present for the Bermuda Run Town Council meeting on March 12.
That meant there wasn’t a quorum to vote.
Rethmeier outlined four key priorities, all involving partnerships, for the future during an extended time for mayor’s comments.
They include:
• working in partnership with Davie County on expanding sewer capacity for economic development;
• exploring other areas just outside the town with the Davie County Economic Development Council to add commercial and light manufacturing;
• continue to have dialogue and look at possibilities for voluntary annexation for areas such as Oak Valley and Hidden Creek. “We think that the town has something to offer them that they can really benefit from;” and
• keep working with businesses dealing with the town’s identity and character.
Rethmeier said he and town manager Lee Rollins recently met with representatives of the NCDOT Division 9 to go over the town’s comprehensive plan.
“This was an opportunity to show them what we’re all about,” Rethmeier said. “They were pleased and impressed with the work that we’ve done. In the long term, that will help us partnership with those individuals at DOT and their representatives and other members of their staff.”
