‘Calming Devices’ – Forsyth Deputies Slowing Traffic Coming Into Bermuda Run

While waiting for a roundabout at the US 158 gate entrance, Bermuda Run Town Council members have noticed another way to slow down the traffic on the busy stretch of highway.
“I understand the other day the Forsyth sheriff was putting some calming devices along 158 as they go over the bridge from Forsyth in the form of a vehicle with a blue light,” said councilman John Guglielmi. “They pull them in our little driveway here. I noticed today it was calmer than it was three days ago.”
Eventually, plans call for a roundabout on the Davie side of the Yadkin River. Town Manager Lee Rollins updated the council in last Tuesday night’s regular monthly meeting that the process continues to move along.
Bermuda Run had entered into an agreement with Kemp and Associates on a feasibility study.
“The preliminary findings show a traffic signal is not warranted and that a roundabout is an acceptable solution,” Rollins said. “DOT has already tentatively approved the roundabout concept but wants to double check on stacking of cars at the gate house and making sure that the turn radius can handle 53-foot trailers.”
