Mocksville, Cooleemee Filing Over; Bermuda Run Begins

Slates of candidates for office in Mocksville and Cooleemee are set, and two filed Monday to become Bermuda Run’s mayor.
In Mocksville, incumbent mayor, Dr. Francis Slate, is being challenged by Glen Stanley Jr. Incumbent commissioners J.C. “Buster” Cleary and Will Marklin are unopposed.
In Cooleemee, incumbent mayor Lynn Rumley is being challenged by Tom Webb. Incumbent commissioners Tommy Daywalt and Jean Snead are being challenged by Carl Smith and Nathan Shores.
Those races are set, with elections on Nov. 8.
Filing for Bermuda Run offices began at noon Monday, with incumbent Mayor John Ferguson and challenger, Kenneth Rethmeier, putting their names on the ballot.
