Employees make a business.
And for Ingersoll-Rand of Mocksville, it’s those employees who have made it the Davie Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year.
Other top awards went to Helen Crenshaw, a retired educator and community volunteer, who received the E.C. Tatum Community Service Award, and Raylen Vineyards, which received the Small Business of the Year Award.
Ingersoll got the award for its commitment to keeping jobs in Davie County.
“One and a half years ago we got the call, this facility could go to Mexico,” said Terry Bralley, Davie Economic Development Council president. “We want this to become the manufacturing center of excellence.”
One way to keep those jobs in Davie County will be to train Davie workers. Working with the schools and the STEM initiative, local educators will work in the Ingersoll plant. “They can learn the skills kids are going to need,” Bralley said.
