Gantt Building Eyed For Early College

Four school facilities have been identified by the Davie Board of Education as having problems ranging from overcrowding to ancient heating and air units.
At a meeting last week, board members took steps to solve, as one board member put it, “one-half of one of the problems.”
They voted unanimously to ask the county to work with community college officials to pursue renovations of the Gant building, adjacent to the Davie Campus of Davidson County Community College, with the goal of alleviating overcrowding at the Early College. The building would be used along with the POD the school uses, as well as the two classrooms it uses in the main building.
It could be ready for occupancy by next fall.
The board also directed Superintendent Dr. William Steed to conduct a study to make recommendations that could allow the space to be further renovated to completely house the Early College.
