Final realignment plan released
The N.C. High School Athletic Association posted the final Realignment Plan for 2025-2029. The plan was approved March 3 after hearing final requests from 27 member schools. The eight-classification plan represents the first expansion of classifications since 1960, when the NCHSAA moved from three classifications to four.
Davie will leave the Central Piedmont Conference, a league it joined in 1985. Davie will be a 7A school in a 6A/7A conference with 7A Lake Norman, 7A Mooresville, 7A South Iredell, 6A North Iredell and 6A Statesville.
Most of the current CPC schools will be a part of a 7A/8A conference that will include East Forsyth, Parkland, Reynolds, Reagan, Northwest Guilford and West Forsyth.
Boys lacrosse wins
Playing its first game in nine days, Davie’s boys lacrosse team won 12-8 at Northern Guilford on March 6.
The star was Jack Pisciotta, who had seven goals and four assists – his second 11-point effort in two games. Caswell Moore and Ty Carter had two goals each as Davie improved to 2-0. Owen Blakely had one goal and Carter had two assists. Evan Helms and Moore had one assist.
Throwback Game at Rich Park
Davie’s baseball teams will play a Throwback Game at Rich Park on March 13, when it hosts Lake Norman at 4:30 and 7 p.m. in a JV/varsity doubleheader. Rich Park was Davie’s home for 61 years (1957-2017).
