North wins 9-inning struggle

Ellis’ baseball team won 9-2 at Mooresville March 3.
The Jaguars got on the board in the top of the second after Dawson Griffin walked and Mooresville committed an error.
An error gave Ellis the lead, 3-2, in the top of the third.
Wade Hefner earned the win for Ellis. The starting pitcher gave up 4 hits and 2 runs (zero earned) over four innings, striking out 5 and walking 1. Bowman Blakley threw three innings of scoreless ball in relief. The righty allowed 1 hit, striking out 7 and walking 2.
Blakley and Ben Bost each collected 2 hits. Tanner Lineback and Blakley each drove in 2 runs. Conner Cornatzer helped Jaguars with 3 walks. Mason Driver stole 2 bases.
North 4, Moor 3 (9 innings)
It came down to the wire on March 4 as North Davie’s baseball team grabbed 4-3 victory in walk-off fashion against visiting Mooresville.
The game was tied at 3 in the bottom of the ninth when Easton Stanley knocked in the winning run.
The Wildcats jumped into the lead in the bottom of the 4th after Mooresville committed an error and Colton Norman singled up the middle. Down by one, Norman laid down a sac bunt to help North tie the game at 3 in the bottom of the sixth.
Reliever Paxton Broadus earned the win while surrendering 2 runs over 5 innings. Aydan Shay started on the bump for North, holding the Red Imps to 1 run over 4 innings.
Norman (1 for 3) led the way with 2 RBIs. Wade Ridenhour, Sawyer Hall and Trevor Bumgarner each collected 2 hits.
Burke 5, North 1
North Davie could not keep pace with Selma Burke on March 6. cThe Wildcats were the first to get on the board in the fifth when Stanley knocked in a run with a single. A home run by Selma Burke gave the Bears a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the fifth.
Bumgarner look the loss. He went 6 inning, gave up 5 runs (2 earned) on 5 hits. Stanley, the leadoff man, led North with two hits in four at-bats. He also stole three bases.
