Lee Rollins was appointed as Mocksville Town Manager by the town board on Tuesday night.
Rollins will join the town on March 17. He was Bermuda Run Town Manager for13 years, and has accumulated 30 years of experience in public and private partnerships.
Rollins is executive director for Resource Institute, a locally based non-profit that works with local governments and other partners to enhance America’s natural resources by restoring streams, rivers, and wetlands.
Approximately half of Mr. Rollins’ working life has been in the private sector, much of which focused on strategic planning, client development, and customer service.
This combination has given Rollins a unique perspective on creating public/private partnerships whenever possible, reported Interim Town Manager Lynn Trivette. He remains committed to the premise that government works best when it collaborates with the private sector and community groups to solve problems and achieve community goals. Working within organizations to topple silos is one of his passions and strengths, she said.
Rollins has been a resident of Mocksville afor 22 years. He has been active in his church and a number of civic organizations.
A former Mocksville Town Commissioner who serves on the Town Planning Board, he majored in business administration at High Point University and has extensive training through the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Government.
Rollins will oversee a staff of 33 full-time and 20 part-time employees. He will follow former Town Manager Ken Gamble, who retired in December.
“The Mocksville Town Commissioners have worked hard to find the best candidate to fill the role of town manager,” said Mayor Will Marklin, brother-in-law of Rollins.
“After a thorough search process, they have selected the former town manager of Bermuda Run. Mr. Rollins served as assistant manager for Mocksville under Terry Bralley. He has a proven track record in leadership and will be an asset to our town.
“Thanks to Lynn Trivette for stepping in as interim manager during the search process and thank you to the Piedmont Triad Regional Council for conducting the search,” Marlin said.
“I look forward to serving my hometown and working with incredibly talented people to implement the policies and objectives as set forth by the Mocksville Board of Commissioners. It is an honor,” Rollins said.
