Less than a year after receiving a suspended sentence for similar offense, an Advance man faces news charges of possession of child sexual abuse material.

Peter Michael McDevitt, 78, of 144 N. Niblick Court, was arrested on Jan. 30.

According to the Davie County Sheriff’s Office, on Dec. 12, while assisting N.C. Department of Adult Correction with Special Initiative Joint law enforcement operation, Davie detectives discovered that McDevitt was in possession of child sexual abuse material.

Once a search warrant was executed, devices seized from McDevitt’s residence contained the material.

On Jan. 30, warrants were secured for McDevitt as well as a probation violation.

McDevitt was charged with 10 counts of third degree sex exploitation of a minor and felony probation. McDevitt is currently being held at the Davie County Detention Center in lieu of a $100,000 bond.

He had been sentenced to two years probation in February, 2022, for two counts of possession of child sexual abuse materials.
