The Davie Soil and Water Conservation District will sponsor a student from Davie County to attend the Resource Conservation Workshop June 21-26 at N.C. State University.

The workshop is a weeklong intensive study and hands on conservation workshop teaching students about natural resources and their management in today’s environment. Students are housed on campus dormitories under the guidance of live-in counselors. Students who are eligible include rising sophomores, juniors and seniors. High school graduates are not eligible. Home schooled students are eligible. The intent is to seek out students who have not made up their minds about attending college.

The Davie district will pay registration and enough money for meals.  The district may be able to assist in the transportation.

The winning student will be asked to attend a district’s board meeting before and after the workshop to learn objectives and report on his/her workshop experiences.

The deadline to apply is May 15.

Contact the Davie Soil and Water Conservation District for more information and an application at 180 South Main Street (beside the courthouse) in Mocksville, 336-751-5011.
