Wilbert Ray Lewis Sr., 67, transitioned from earth to glory on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at Davie Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

He was born in Rowan County on Feb. 6, 1955 to the late Carson Lewis Sr. and Annie Margaret Dillard Lewis. He was educated in the public school system of Davie County. At a young age, Ray, as he was affectionately known, attended St. John AME Zion Church. For a short length of time he worked at Funder America. Ray enjoyed fishing and playing cards. Later on in life, after watching one of his favorite movies “Rambo,” he decided that Rambo would be his new nickname.

Survivors: his children, Wilbert Ray Lewis Jr., Raymond Lewis,Sr. (Nikita), Pamela Lewis (Marquita); stepchildren, Curtis Lewis (Shaquana) and Shavone Ravit; grandchildren, Quameak Lewis, Zymir Lewis, Lync Lewis, Heaven Lewis, Raymond Lewis Jr.; great-grandchildren: Kaison, Ky and Dream; siblings: Margaret Wilkes (Elliot), Geraldine Goolsby (Jerry), Carson Lewis Jr. and Michael Lewis; 2 aunts, Marcella Lewis and Barbara Lewis; god-sister, Pastor Nettye I. Barber; special friend, Gloria Lewis; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be Saturday, April 2, 1-5 p.m., at Roberts Funeral Chapel, 935 Salisbury Road, Mocksville. The funeral will be at the chapel on Sunday, April 3 at 12:30 p.m.
