Candidate filing reopens on Feb. 24

The candidate filing period for local and state offices resumes at 8 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 24 and will close at noon on Friday, March 4.
Offices that may be filed for and fees paid in the Davie County Board of Elections Office are: NC Senate, $140; NC House of Representatives, $140; Clerk of Court, $974; Sheriff, $927; two county commissioner seats (now held by James Blakley and Benita Finney), $68; and three Board of Education seats (now held by David Carroll, Clint Junker and Lori Smith), $36.
Filing fees may be paid by check to the Davie County Board of Elections, 161 Poplar St., Suite 102. Please contact the Elections office if you have further questions at 753-6072.
Candidates who filed before the process was halted in December: Republicans J.D. Hartman and Mark Howell for sheriff; Republican Julia Howard for N.C. House of Representatives; Republicans Jason Lawrence, Sonya Spry and Andrew Brock for Davie Clerk of Superior Court; Eric J. Farr, Davie district court judge seat; Republican Stephen Duane Vestal for Davie County Commissioner; and Republican Joseph “Con” Shelton for Davie Board of Education.
