Mrs. Mary Ethel Goss Smith, 82, of Yadkinville Road, Mocksville, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2022 at Atrium Health-Wake Forest Baptist Davie Medical Center in Advance.
She was born on April 24, 1939 in Davidson County to the late James and Pearl Grubb Goss.
Mrs. Smith was a longtime member of Smith Grove United Methodist Church, where she served as a youth leader, Methodist Youth Fellowship leader, Sunday school teacher, and Girl Scout leader. She worked as a hairdresser before becoming a Registered Nurse and worked as a travelling nurse towards the end of her career. Mrs. Smith enjoyed crocheting, spending time with her children and grandchildren, and loved animals.
In addition to her parents and step-father, Charlie Owen, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Rebecca Clark, Spurgeon Goss, Annie Ruth Goss, Perry Owen and Infant Owen.
Survivors: 3 daughters, Chiquita Branon, Vickie Smith, and Frankie May; 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and 5 nieces and nephews.
