Mrs. Lyndia Jones Cornatzer, 77, of Baltimore Road, Advance, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 6, 2022 at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
She was born on Jan. 29, 1945 in Jackson, Tenn. to the late Paul William and Reba Virginia Myers Jones.
Mrs. Cornatzer was valedictorian of her Davie County High School graduating class of 1962. She spent 38 years with Piedmont Airlines and U.S. Air. Moving up from computer data entry, she enjoyed the expanded opportunities afforded to a Systems Administrator. In addition to domestic and international leisure travel, Mrs. Cornatzer was a lover of animals. As a valued, longstanding member of Bixby Presbyterian Church, Mrs. C taught adult Bible school class, served on the session, and contributed the talents of her beautiful voice to the choir. Through her service to the church, she lovingly and faithfully served her community and her Lord God. You could always find a bright smile gracing Mrs. Cornatzer’s face. She will forever be a caring wife, a patient mother and grandmother, and a reliable friend.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her brother, Keith Lennon Jones; a niece, Candace Lace Jones; and numerous aunts and uncles.
Survivors: her husband of 57 years, Gordon Cornatzer; 2 daughters, Tona Cornatzer (Scott Smith) of Mocksville and Christian “Chrissy” Cornatzer of Advance; a granddaughter, Taryn McCann; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m., Friday, Feb. 11 at Eaton Funeral Chapel with Rev. Peter Peterson officiating. Interment will follow in Bixby Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
