Nate Hampton got his first action as a true freshman at Liberty on Oct. 30, and he marked the special occasion with a long touchdown pass during the Flames’ 62-17 wipeout of visiting UMass.
Hampton, a 6-6, 235-pounder from Advance, did not see the field in the first eight games. He entered in the fourth quarter and completed 1 of 4 passes, the completion going for a 63-yard TD down the right side.
Liberty was 7-2 going into Saturday.
Nate’s older brother, Peyton, is a 6-1, 235-pound junior linebacker at Army. He appeared in five of the first seven games, contributing one solo tackle, four assisted tackles and two quarterback hurries.
Going into Saturday, the Black Knights were 4-3 with a three-game losing streak.
