Clay Harris has been named chief operations officer for the Davie County School system.

Harris has served as chief finance officer since 2019, overseeing the finance department in the central office. Harris will continue to manage finances and accounting for Davie County Schools, but will now also oversee district and school operations, including facility maintenance, transportation, and school nutrition.

Harris came to Davie County Schools after spending four years in Davidson County Schools, most recently as assistant director of finance. Prior to that, he served in leadership roles at PepsiCo for nearly 20 years.

Harris earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

“Mr. Harris has impressed us from the very beginning of his time here at Davie County Schools,” said Superintendent Jeff Wallace. “His financial expertise and knowledge of best practices is a tremendous asset. Given his experience in operations, Mr. Harris will continue to provide his outstanding leadership in other areas of the district, working with a group of strong directors.”
