EnergyUnited has awarded an Empowering the Future scholarship to Sadie Essic of Davie County.

She will receive a $5,000 college scholarship which will be used to cover qualifying educational expenses.

Essic, a senior at Davie County High School, plans to attend UNC-Chapel Hill this fall to study biology.

She has served as president of the National Honor Society, vice president of the Make-A-Wish Club, secretary of Student Council and member of the Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA).

“Sadie has clearly demonstrated remarkable success in classroom, but she also carries a genuine passion for community service,” said Maureen Moore, communications manager for EnergyUnited. “It’s an honor to support her postsecondary studies.”

This year marks the fourth year in which EnergyUnited has offered college scholarships through its Empowering the Future program. All seniors who live in a residence or attend a high school served by EnergyUnited are eligible to apply. EnergyUnited will begin accepting applications on Jan. 1, 2022.
