With a turnout of more than 80 percent of the voters, Davie residents voted overwhelmingly for Republican candidates except in one local race in unofficial results released Tuesday night.

In the race for four seats on the Davie County Board of Education, unaffiliated candidate Cammie Paige Webb beat Dwight Goodman for the fourth spot on the board, joining incumbent Republicans Wendy Horne, Dub Potts and Paul Drechsler

Davie voters cast 18,115 votes for President Donald Trump, and 6,653 for former Vice President Joe Biden. The final results for the state were not available.

Republican Thom Tillis received 17,304 votes from Davie residents, and was holding a slight edge over challenger Democrat Cal Cunningham, who garnered 6,517 votes in Davie.

Republican Ted Budd of Advance was well on his way to reelection to the US House of Representatives, with 18,844 Davie votes compared to challenger Scott Huffman’s 6,128.

Davie voters preferred Republican Dan Forrest for governor, giving him 16,998 votes compared to incumbent Democrat Roy Cooper’s 7,830. Cooper held the lead as of this writing.

NC Rep. Julia Howard of Mocksville won reelection over challenger Keith Townsend, and earned 18,296 votes in Davie compared to 6,494 for Townsend.

Republican incumbent Joyce Krawiec appeared to be on track for relection, getting 17,,620 votes in Davie compared to 7,064 for Terry LeGrand in Davie.

Incumbent Republicans Mark Jones, Terry Renegar and Richard Poindexter were unopposed for their seats on the Davie County Board of County Commissioners.

Kelly Cozart Funderburk, a Republican, was unopposed in the race for the Davie County Register of Deeds.
