Mary Florence Hairston, 79, of Mocksville, died Dec. 12, 2019 at her residence.

She was born June 14, 1940 in Davie County, a daughter of the late Rev. Raymond and Irene Hairston. She was also preceded in death by: a daughter, Laverne Parson; brothers, Albert, Lawarance, David, and W.C.; sisters, Doobie, Margaret, Helen, Wilma, Hazel, Bertha, Flora, and Frances.

She graduated from Central Davie High School Class of 1957. She worked as an inspector at Lee Jeans, and was a member at Refuge Church.

Survivors: a son, John Redmond; daughters, Jackie Ramsue, and Vanessa Long (Larry); sister, Lula Lane; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Visitation was held from noon-1 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 17 at Victory Baptist Church in Cooleemee. Her funeral service was at 1 p.m. at Victory Baptist, with Pastor Rodney Barker officiating. Burial followed at  Liberty Zion AME Church of Mocksville.
