Bermuda Run Garden Club

BERMUDA RUN – The Bermuda Run Garden Club’s annual exceptional children’s lunch once again brought excited students and staff to the Bermuda Run Clubhouse on Nov. 21.

Club members enjoy this annual event which would not be possible without the help of Bermuda Run staff and Lowes Foods. Chef Tim Thompson along with many other staff are an integral part in making this event special for these children.

Garden club co-chairs for the event were Nancy Doub and Karen Coley.

Students who are part of the exceptional programs come from all Davie schools for what has become an annual tradition. Many of the schools attending bring gifts to the club in the form of songs, poetry, banners and signs.

Students and staff were welcomed by garden club members who had spent much time cooking, organizing as well as decorating the dining room.

Linda Ernst, club president, welcomed students and staff and introduced special guests:  Rick Cross, Bermuda Run Mayor and Lee Rollins, town manager.  She also thanked the local Lowes Foods for donating the turkeys and welcomed Amanda Chaffin and Shawn Beck to help serve the birds.

A traditional Thanksgiving meal was served to these students and staff, many of whom say this event is one of their favorite things each year.  Following the feast, Sara Davis, teacher at Davie High School and her husband Caleb provided music for dancing.

As students departed, club members bid them a Happy Thanksgiving.
