Davie County Young Life held its seventh annual fundraising banquet Tuesday, Oct. 22 at Calvary West.

There were 212 guests, who entered into what is the “Greatest Show on Earth.”

They were greeted by Doug the Clown, and walked into the venue that had been transformed into a circus.

Jonah Werner, musician, provided the night’s entertainment.

Thanks to the Kelley Foundation, Fuller Welding and 12 other local business sponsors, 100 percent of the funds raised will go directly to the annual budget for Davie County Young Life.

This summer the group said goodbye to Justin and Caroline Hepler, the area director for the past seven years, as they moved to Raleigh to do ministry with college students at NC State.

Nate Dilling and wife Natalie moved to Davie from Washington, NC. Nate is passionate about this move and transition. With only being in Davie for a few months, he has made relationships with the high schoolers.

Suzzie Jones, Davie County’s Wyldlife director, continues to lead the ministry with middle schoolers. The guests got to get a glimpse of what a Young Life club looks like by students storming into the room with excitement to the song “Don’t Stop Believing.” She said Young Life is not just all fun and games, but it truly does have an impact on people’s lives. Jones introduced Jack Scully as he proceeded to share his testimony with guests and expressed how much this ministry really impacts lives.

High school students meet Tuesday nights at 7:32 p.m. for Davie County Young Life Club at Farmington Community Center. The club gathers high schoolers for a “party with a purpose,” and a simple message about God’s love for them just the way they are.

Campaigners is a weekly meeting on Thursdays during lunch in Ms. Sizemore’s room, for kids who wish to learn more or grow in their faith through study, service, and leadership.

Jonah Warner, was keynote speaker. He shared part of his story through music. Using his wit, charm, and musical talent, he painted a clear picture of the Gospel and this ministry, which is to introduce adolescents to Christ. He touched the audience with his story and how Young Life changed his life.

The 2019 annual banquet for DCYL was a success in raising $107,900 including the 14 sponsorships, committee pledges, and gifts from the banquet’s guests. More importantly, many guests expressed interest in the Adult Committee, becoming volunteer leaders or helpers in other areas of the ministry.
