Although Davie heads into the playoffs with a less-than-stellar 6-5 record, it’s a confident 6-5.

The War Eagles are the only team to knock off West Forsyth. Reagan was 8-2 before coming to Mocksville. The Central Piedmont Conference tested their mental and physical toughness. They’ve played eight games decided by seven points or less, and they’re 4-4 in those battles.

Davie will host its first playoff game since 2016 this Friday when West Mecklenburg comes to town. Even though West Meck was established in 1951 and Davie was created in 1956, this will be the first ever meeting.

While Davie finished in a three-way tie for second – and only one game out of first – in the chaotic CPC, the Hawks are 6-4, 4-2 after finishing third in the South Meck 7 Conference.

West Meck’s scores: 7-0 win over West Charlotte, 34-12 win over Garinger, 35-7 loss to Kings Mountain, 35-21 loss to Hopewell, 34-23 win over Providence, 38-14 loss to Ardrey Kell, 47-9 win over Berry Academy, 28-0 loss to Olympic, 34-8 win over Harding University and 42-20 win over South Meck.

In the 4A bracket, there are 12 teams each in the East and West regions. Davie is the No. 7 seed in the West. West Meck is 10th. The winner will travel to East Forsyth, which has a bye.

Davie’s last home playoff game was a 54-30 quarterfinal loss to Dudley in final games for stalwarts Chris Reynolds and James Boyle.
