Four people were arrested and a stolen gun recovered after an attempted armed robbery near Mocksville on Nov. 3.

Davie sheriff’s officers were called to the scene of VOP Fishgames on US 601 South, where a security guard at the business had fire gunshots at an armed robbery suspect, missing the target.

That suspect fled on foot and was found nearby the following day, said Sheriff J.D. Hartman. The suspect was identified as Tyquis Jaqon “TJ” Butler, 24, of Salisbury. Officers also recovered the gun used in the attempted robbery. It was one of 72 reported stolen in August from Bullseye Pawn in Statesville.

That find brought in the SBI, ATF (federal Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms), Spencer, Salisbury and Statesville police and Rowan County sheriff’s officers into the case. Three others were then arrested for their part in the attempted robbery.

He was taken into custody in lieu of a $25,000 bond, pending a Nov. 14 first-appearance hearing in Davie District Court.
