Mr. Jimmy “Jim” Plemmons, 85, of Clemmons died on Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2019 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.

He was born April 19, 1934 in Forsyth County to Grover Cleveland and Thelma Simpson Plemmons. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Stack.

Surviving: his wife, Brenda Plemmons of the home; a son, Chris Plemmons of Clemmons; 2 daughters, Torri Plemmons of Clemmons and Amanda Plemmons of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; a step-son, Aaron Fender (Allison) of Mocksville; step-daughter, Leslie Fender of Clemmons; a brother, Don Plemmons of Winston-Salem; several grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a niece and nephews.

As a young man, he was a softball player and played in local leagues for teams including Piedmont Airlines, McLean Trucking, Whitney Furniture and City Beverage. A four-time state champion and three-time all-state player, he was inducted into the NC Amateur Softball Association Hall of Fame in 2007.  He spent the majority of his career at Piedmont Airlines, retiring in 1989 after 31 years.  He was proud to be a part of the company and enjoyed reminiscing with colleagues and telling stories about the old days.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 15 at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel with Pastor Jason Holley officiating.  Burial will follow at Westlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
