John Mark Hillard, 55, of Mocksville, died on Nov. 9, 2019 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice House in Winston-Salem.

He was born Nov. 27, 1963 in Rowan County, a son of the late Donald Gray Hillard and Peggy Ann McCulloh Hillard. He was also preceded in death by a brother, David Franklin Hillard.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran, then he worked as general laborer. He loved to gamble, fish, the beach, and was a loyal Carolina Panthers fan.

Survivors: his husband, William Cockerham of Mocksville; brother, Lawrence Gray Hillard of Cooleemee; sister, Donna Stevens (Roger) of Cooleemee; and dogs, Hut and King.

A visitation was to be held Thursday, Nov. 14 at 1 p.m. in Davie Funeral Service Chapel. A velebration of life service was to be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14 in the Davie Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor Chris Williams officiating.
