John Joseph Short, 55, of Mocksville, died on Oct. 3, 2019 at Grand Strand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, S.C., after a short illness with liver cancer.

He was born on July 5, 1964 in Bluefield, W.Va. He had been employed at Ashley Furniture in Advance.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, Charles Short and Ella Mae Bogle; a brother, Wayne Short; and a sister, Jennie Sue Neal.

Survivors:a son, Crhistopher Joseph Short; a daughter, Amber May Short of Mocksville; 2 brothers, Charles Willis Short of Mocksville and Roger Willbrant and wife Kim of Florida; 4 sisters, Jacqueline Atkins (his twin) of Lexington, Tammy Fralick and husband Jerry of Bluefield, Sandra Ross and husband Ike of Mocksville, and Julie Byrd and husband Tony of Bluefield.

A service will be held at a later date.
