Marie Joyce Lyons died on Wednesday, May 22, 2019, in Citadel Nursing Home in Winston-Salem.

She was born Nov. 24, 1951, in Brooklyn, N.Y., daughter of the late Pedro Lopez and the late Marion Handy. She was educated in New York, and worked as a teller in Kings County Savings Bank. She loved her family, especially the grandchildren.

Survivors: a daughter, Patricia Williams; 4 sons, Isaac (Cornelia) Williams, Jamel Handy, Yosef Handy, and Darnell (Chevi) Handy; other relatives and friends.

A celebration of life will be held on the afternoon of July 4 in the Pineville community of Mocksville.  Contact the family for details.
