Gordon Herman Cleveland died on Thursday, April 18, 2019, following a lengthy illness.
He was born in Davie County on Dec. 20, 1954, son of the late Herman and Louise Kemp Cleveland. He attended Davie County Schools and was employed by Freightliner Trucks of Cleveland, where he had worked for 23 years. His previous employment included Hanes in Advance, and he had also been a long distance truck driver. His hobby was fishing. He was a lifetime member of Fairfield Baptist Church, where he served as an usher, trustee board member, and men’s choir member. For the past nine years he had been a resident of The Laurels in Salisbury.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Annie Lee Arnold.
Survivors: 2 sons, Rashad and Kenan Cleveland and their mother, Phenica Clement Cleveland; a daughter, Shanlon Ramsue; 2 brothers, Eric Cleveland and Henry (Alice) Cleveland; 2 sisters, Audrey Cleveland and Dianne Roberts; other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, April 26 at 2 p.m. at Fairfield Baptist Church in Mocksville. THE Rev. JJ Rice will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church 30 minutes before the service.
