Substance Abuse Family Education (SAFE) members will host their first annual Superhero Gala on Saturday, May 11 at 6 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church Family Life Center on North Main Street in Mocksville.
The evening will include a meal, an inspirational speaker, recognition of SAFE participants and information regarding the program.
The SAFE family uses the nationally recognized SMART Recovery program to empower members to find the power that dwells within themselves to change the way that they react to circumstances and provides the tools for them to lead a productive, joyful life.
The SMART tools are a pathway to behavior change. The SMART discussions are centered on a four point program that focuses on: 1) Building and Maintaining Motivation; 2) Coping with Urges 3); Managing Thoughts, Feelings, and Behaviors; 4) Leading a Balanced Life, and can be applied to participants of many ages.
The gala will be a celebration of lives that have been changed and a fundraiser to build a foundation to continue to change lives in the future.
Tickets are $25 each and sponsorship opportunities are available.
