Local talent to be featured at Piedmont Opry

The Piedmont Opry will be on the Farmington Community Center stage on Friday, April 26 from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

An americana, bluegrass, folk & country old-time musical variety show is hosted by 30-year-veteran of The “Grand Ole Opry,” George Hamilton V.

The Spring 2019 edition of “The Piedmont Opry” features:

• Hazy Ridge, a bluegrass band from Clemmons;

• His & Hers, a husband and wife americana harmony duo from Mocksville;

• The Richard Boyd, classic country with a touch of rock-a-billy from Winston-Salem;

• Mona Jo Griffin & Band, banjo picker, singer and entertainer from Mocksville; and

• The Muggs Smith Orchestra, and old-time country and bluegrass from Advance and Farmington.

Hamilton V performed at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville for more than 30 years as part of a father and son duo with Winston-Salem born, 54-year Opry legend, George Hamilton IV. They recorded and released five albums together.

George V has been a staff writer for Nashville publishers BMG, Sony/Tree and Curb Music. He’s been on the U.S. country charts and has had several International hits and a Top-5 CMT-Europe music video with his original songs. He lived near Paris, France for three years while performing concerts across Europe.George V’s been featured on television shows “Nashville Now,” “Music City Tonite,” “Crook & Chase” and “Country’s Family Reunion”. His songs have also been featured on MTV.
