Renegade Writers Guild (RWG) will host an author book signing and celebration of the publication of the group’s second children’s anthology titled, “Tales of Tails.”

The celebration will be on Saturday, March 9 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Artist Market on Main at 143 N. Main St. in Mocksville. Refreshments will be served.

Members of RWG have taken simple truths from life and creatively woven them into stories that will capture the hearts of children, said Stephanie Williams Dean, one of the writers.

The book  is an anthology of short stories that take place in Davie County that highlight the tender affection between children and their pets. Publication of the book is the final product of writers who wrote nine stories with illustrations.

Jaden Smith, winner of the 2018   “Judge a Book by its Cover” art contest, designed the cover.

The books are on sale, and 100 percent of proceeds from sales will benefit the Davie County Humane Society. The publication is available from Amazon in paperback and Kindle.

The guild will have its first children’s book, “The Magic Horses of Crystal Creek Camp,” available for purchase as well, which benefits the Davie County Public Library.

“The RWG demonstrates a shared commitment to support reading initiatives for children,” Dean said. “The reading initiative is part of the guild’s book project, which focuses on opening new worlds for young readers while promoting a philosophy of giving back to community.

“Renegade Writers Guild is committed to bringing simple truths to life by writing powerful, colorful stories that grab hold of a child’s imagination and transport them to delightful places. I applaud the guild for the interest and effort they put forth in writing stories for the book. The book will benefit our community.”
