Masonic Picnic Saturday

The 138th Annual Masonic Picnic is at 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11 at the historic picnic grounds off North Main Street in Mocksville.

Sponsored by the Mocksville, Advance and Farmington Masonic Lodges, it is a fundraiser for the N.C. Masonic Home for Children.

The Freemasons will continue the tradition of honoring  residents of Davie for their service. H.R. and the late Modene Hendrix will be honored.

He is a past master of Mocksville Lodge, and was chair of Davie commissioners.  He is a charter member of the Mocksville Lions and a past president. He was a contractor and has built many buildings in Davie. He is a member of Dulin United Methodist Church.

The evening program will begin at 5 followed by the picnic dinner, followed by music .

“Although not as large as it has been in the past, the Masonic  Picnic is one of if not the oldest continuous fund raising event in the state of North Carolina, supporting the Masonic Home for Children since 1878,” said Mason, Judge Jimmy Myers.
