A Cooleemee woman has been arrested for stabbing her partner in the back.

Jacqueline Ann Edwards, 31, of 227 Watt St., was charged with assault with a deadly weapon. She is scheduled to face the charge Dec. 21 in Davie District Court.

Cooleemee Police Sgt. Brent C. Cranford said while waiting on backup to respond to the call of a stabbing at a residence on Watt Street, the suspect walked up to his patrol vehicle and told him she had stabbed her boyfriend.

The suspect and victim stories of what happened didn’t match, and the suspect’s story of the incident changed several times, Cranford reported.
