Girl Scout Cadette Rachel Dove of Troop 40663 in Advance earned her Silver Award – the highest award a Girl Scout Cadette can earn.

Rachel set up a program at the Humane Society of Davie County that allowed young children to read to animals awaiting their fur-ever homes. This enabled the children to read without judgment, allowing them to gain confidence in their reading ability. It also invited a special community (children) into the shelter to see the animals, thus allowing for more animal adoptions.

Rachel spent countless hours on this project, and her hard work and dedication helped many people.  Jake and Marsha Dove are her parents.
