A Davie County man will represent the United States in the ISDE (International Six Day Enduro) race in Brive, France, this summer.

Steve “Hank” Mason earned a spot on the 21-man Team USA for what is considered the “Olympics” of off-road motorcycle endurance racing.

“I am very honored to be racing for Team USA in Brive, France this summer in the 92nd running of the ISDE,” Mason said.

Through a series of qualifying events this spring, Mason placed second in the E4 class division among some of the best Enduro racers in the country, guaranteeing him a spot on the team.

More than 30 countries are expected to send teams.

“I have been training hard all year and have been competing in the National Enduro Series and the Full Gas Sprint Enduro Series to prepare for the challenging six days of racing,” he said. “The race course is primarily off road that traverses some of the world’s most extreme terrain, and will span well over 1,000 miles.”

He has started a GoFundMe page to help pay trip expenses.
