Mrs. Margie Louise Smith Cook, 83, formerly of Advance, died Monday, May 22, 2017, at The Oaks at Forsyth in Winston-Salem.
She was born Feb. 5, 1934 in Forsyth County to the late Lester Monroe and Vira Jane Wood Smith. Mrs. Cook was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church, Advance. She was retired from Bingham and Parks in Advance. Mrs. Cook was a flower gardener who loved the outdoors and all of nature. She was a hard worker, would give you the shirt off her back and adored her family.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Harleen “Buster” Cook, a dirt track fan, a mechanic and a man who provided for his children and loved his family; a son, John Mark Mock Jr. of Monticello, Ga.; a great-granddaughter, Alyssa Ariana Burton; and a sister, Jane Carolyn Sheets.
Survivors: 2 daughters, Terena Cook of Lexington and Shannon Plowman of Yadkinville; 2 brothers, James “Jim” Lester Smith of Davidson County and William “Bill” Monroe Smith of Forsyth County; 3 grandchildren, Betsy, David and Richard Mock; and 4 great-grandchildren, Cody Plowman, Shay, Emily and Vivian Mock.
A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 27 at Bethlehem United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Chuck Baker officiating.
