At the annual Davie County Democratic Party Convention in April, delegates elected new officers for 2017-2019.
These officers, along with precinct chairs will lead the party through the mid-term election. Party chair, Pamela Faircloth, recognized the officers at the monthly meeting, Tuesday, May 9 at the party headquarters at 110 W. Depot St. in Mocksville.
The Democrats began planning strategies for the 2018 election.
“As Democratic Party Members, we feel we have a great opportunity to elect Democrats throughout the district,” Faircloth said. “Never before have we seen so many people stepping up to run for office this early in the cycle. We believe people are beginning to see that absolute power does indeed corrupt.
“Our Democratic values place people’s needs first. All our NC Republican members of the House of Representatives including our own representative, voted to repeal the Affordable Health Care Act which enabled many people who could not afford healthcare insurance to have it,” she said.
The next county meeting will be June 13, at 7 p.m. All Democrats and unaffiliated voters are invited. The district convention will be Saturday, May 20 at Lexington Senior High School, 26 Penry St. Registration begins at 9 a.m. Training sessions start at 10. Keynote speaker will be Chaz Beasley, District 92 NC House Representative. All Democratic Members are urged to attend this convention.
