The Davie varsity boys lacrosse team picked up two nonconference wins last week and achieved the best start (4-3) in the four-year history of the program.

Through seven matches in 2014, Davie was 2-5. It was 1-6 at this point in the 2015 and 2016 seasons.

Coming into the season, the War Eagles were 0-9 against the trio of Glenn, Bishop McGuinness and St. Stephens. This year they have trumped all three, clearing the St. Stephens hurdle with a 14-11 home decision on March 14. It avenged a 17-10 loss on March 9.

“We aren’t on the Reynolds-Reagan-Tabor level yet, but we have beaten Glenn, Bishop and St. Stephens,” assistant coach Scott Landy said. “This will probably be our best year to date.”

Davie kept the momentum going with a 10-5 road win over Patton on March 16.
