Mrs. Peggy Cole Winfrey, 78, of Mocksville, died Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at Maple Leaf Health Care in Statesville.
She was born Aug. 27, 1938 in Red Springs to the late John Curtis and Flora Belle Hall Cole. Mrs. Winfrey was a member of Salem United Methodist Church where she was a member of the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of Kappa Club. Mrs. Winfrey had worked at medical facilities including Davie County Hospital, Forsyth Medical Center and Blumenthal Jewish Home. She was involved in service to family, friends and community.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Troy Winfrey; a sister, Dorothy; and 3 brothers, Graham, Jerry and Joe.
Survivors: a sister, Carole Martin (Reinhart); a son, David Earl Winfrey; a daughter, Mary Winfrey Campbell (Donnie); a granddaughter, Brittany Victoria Clark; a stepson, James Robert Winfrey (Jean); and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 5 at Salem United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Erwin officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 4 fromn 5-7 p.m. at Eaton Funeral Home.
