Delmer “Wayne” Taylor, 79, died Monday, Feb. 13, 2017 at Davie Place Residential Care.

Born Feb. 18, 1937 in Ashe County, he was the son of the late James Walter Taylor and Floye Evelyn Stanley Taylor. He attended Ashe County public schools and was a member of Midway Baptist Church in West Jefferson. He was a simple man who asked little of others. He loved the color red and diesel tractors.

Survivors: a brother, Jennings D. Taylor (Brenda) of Hudson; a sister, Yvonne Burt  of New York; special nieces and caregivers, Dawn Blackwood (Terry) and Donna Boger, both of Mocksville; plus several other nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by: 3 brothers, James Jr., Earl and Burl Taylor; and 2 sisters, Gladys Woodie and Louise Medley.

A celebration of life memorial service was conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18 at Midway Baptist Church. The family received friends one hour prior to the time of service in the church. His cremains were laid to rest in the church cemetery.
