Girls agree to ‘no cell phone’ challenge

Published 9:39 am Thursday, January 26, 2017

Not sure how many young girls would agree to give up their cell phones for a day, much less three, but two students in Lauren Parker’s fifth grade class stepped up to the challenge.

Madison Hayes and Malayka Rankin signed a 3-Day Cell Phone Challenge, which will begin morning of Jan. 27 and end morning of Feb. 1.

They promise to put their phone out of sight for the length of the challenge as if they don’t have one. Using other cell phones are prohibited and they must document each day by reflecting on what it was like no having a cell phone.

They both will answer a questionnaire Monday morning.

The challenge is on girls.Good luck.

Librarian Lisa Nieters  was excited to finish the Lego Wall in the media center. Friends and family helped added donations to complete this fun and interactive board.

The green plates were quite costly, $1,000, but it’s finally complete and they are going over safety logistics to build steps to help the students build higher.

“I do a lot of group research projects with second through fifth -grade and I hope this board will help the students gain experience working together, have fun creating their own visions while learning to be collaborative.”
