Mary A. Kowalko, 95, died at her home on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017 with her daughters at her bedside.

She was born in New York City on April 7, 1921 the daughter of John and Anna Husar. She had spent the greater portion of her life residing in Northvale, N.J. and moved to Advance some 20 years ago. She was a talented dressmaker, cook and baker and delighted in being a homemaker and tending to the needs of her family.   

She was predeceased by her husband William in 1978.

Survivors: daughters, Maryanne Post with whom she lived, Carol Barnes (Richard) of Advance, and Judith Kowalko of Goldsboro; granddaughters, Debra Holt (Ron) and Lisa Zamora (Ken) of Pilot Mountain; a host of great-grandchildren; and her many furry friends at home.

Services were private with burial in the Farmington Cemetery.
