Mrs. Clara Sain West, 93 of Mocksville, died on Jan. 8, 2017 at her home.

Mrs. West was born May 18, 1923 in Davie County to the late Grady P. and Girlie Foster Sain. Mrs. West graduated from Mocksville High School and made a career of sewing at Monleigh Sewing, Southeastern Manufacturing, and T & V Fabrication until the age of 90. She was an active member of Society Baptist Church and was involved in Sunday school, choir, WMU, and Young at Heart. She helped sew 48 prayer quilts for Quilt Ministry. She loved making cakes and persimmon puddings for family and friends.

On Feb. 23, 1946 she married Roy Lee West who preceded her in death in 1976. She was also preceded in death by son, William (Bill) Lee West and brother, Lester Sain.

Survivors: a son, Terry L. (Shirley) West; grandson, Jonathan L. (Julie) West; granddaughter, Jennifer L. West; niece, Myra (Jack) Hellard and nephew, Roger Sain all of Mocksville.

The funeral will be held at Society Baptist Church on Wednesday, Jan.  11 at 2:30 p.m. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-2:15 p.m. at the church prior to the service.
